Here's how I lost the weight...
Hi my name is Tracy. I had the gastric sleeve 6 months ago and I’ve lost 53 lbs and I’m so excited about that.
Before surgery I felt miserable all the time; my back was hurting all the time, my knees were hurting all the time, it was hard for me to go up a flight of stairs, it was hard for me to walk through theme parks. I had some bad habits, I was eating a lot of fried foods and sugary foods. I felt miserable; I was very insecure and I didn’t like seeing myself in the mirror.
I decided probably two years ago that I had had enough. I have been overweight my whole adult life and I was just done with this. I wanted to be a healthier person for my kids, for my husband, and most of all for myself. Being overweight in general was bad enough, but also diabetes runs very heavily in both of my families, and I didn’t want to become a diabetic. My husband, sister, and sister-in-law, they have been my strongest supporters – it’s very important to have support, since it’s a very hard process; it’s very mentally and physically challenging so having support makes a big difference.
Dr. Naik has been great, I love him. And I’ve already referred people to him that would like to have the surgery, too. He’s just really awesome and great and supportive. He’s really helped me with what food choices I should make and has just been very encouraging at every appointment, telling me “you’re doing great” and that’s definitely a good thing. After hours I haven’t had any complications but anytime I needed to schedule an appointment always timely matter, it’s been really great in that office. Yes it’s very good for them to be located in Bakersfield.
I chose the gastric sleeve mostly because more than just trying to lose weight super fast, it was something that will help me maintain my weight as I go through life. The gastric sleeve was definitely the right solution for me. Dr. Naik explained all the different options in-depth and with detail, and we decided together that the sleeve was the best surgery for me.
The advice I’d give to someone considering weight loss surgery is to just do it. The only thing you need to think about is how great your life will be after the fact, it’s definitely a life changer and I would not change it for anything. I strongly suggest you just do it and don’t be afraid, nothing is going to go wrong. Dr. Naik is super awesome, so just do it. You’ll be so glad you did! The staff at New Life Medical is very generous and very kind, and I have not had any problems.
I have more energy to go through theme parks without any issues. I don’t have that back problem any longer, and I’m so much happier in life in general. I am more confident about myself and I love it. After my procedure I was back to normal life in about two weeks. I can now definitely be more interactive with my children, and my husband, and I can do more outdoor activities and not be out of breath so much. I just have more energy in general. I stay away from fried foods, and now sugary foods as well.
If I had a do it all over again I would, yep! I don’t regret anything about having the surgery; the only thing I do regret is not having it sooner.
Good luck to you in your journey, hope this helps!
Tracy
